ABOUT BRIDGEWELL

Meet Lynne Hawkes
Director and Senior Consultant

Lynne is honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve your family as an independent college admissions counselor. She is eager to assist both local families, particularly those unfamiliar with the college admissions process here in the States, as well as expat and missionary families serving overseas who are looking to send their students back to the States for college or university. The name of the organization, BridgeWell, represents her desire to come alongside students throughout the transition process to this culture and provide them with the resources and individual support necessary to discover the colleges/university home that best fit student’s individual needs, passions, skills and aspirations. At BridgeWell, we believe that each student is uniquely gifted and can experience peace of mind and confidence as they move forward and make well-informed choices in their pursuit of higher education.

Lynne grew up in upstate New York and the Washington DC area, but has lived in NC since 1992.  She has both a Masters from Duke University and BS from Allegheny College. With both degrees in Water Resources, she worked as an Environmental Consultant in RTP, an Environmental Specialist for the states of North Carolina and Florida, and as an Instructor at Florida Institute of Technology. While serving as an Admissions Applicant Interviewer for Duke University and experiencing the college admission process with her own children, she followed a call to trade in her waders and lab-coat to go back to school, receiving a College Admissions Counseling Certificate from the UC-Riverside in 2015.

Lynne loves exploring the great outdoors and traveling with her family; hiking, sailing, kayaking – anywhere they can get off the beaten path. They especially enjoy sharing a meal with friends, taking any opportunity to fill their house with fellowship and music.

Lynne is an active member of the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC), Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC), and is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). She participates in professional education workshops every year and attends numerous professional education webinars and workshops each month in order to maintain awareness of current trends and nuances in the college application process. She meets with college admissions officers from colleges and universities as well as with other high school college counselors from throughout the nation. She had opportunities to share best practices, collaborate, and discuss new trends on the horizon in admissions, financial aid, costs of college, and access. She also visits a large number of colleges and universities throughout the U.S. each year in order to best understand how applicants are being considered at each institution.
