College Fairs/College Visits

Typically free and open to the public, college fairs connect you with hundreds of colleges and universities in one location. There are several types of fairs to help you find your perfect fit, each allowing students to interact one-on-one with college admission representatives from a wide range of postsecondary institutions.

One of the most important tools for college selection is this campus visit. Visiting the colleges on your list will give you a firsthand impression of the students, faculty, staff, facilities, and programs. Some colleges view this “demonstrated interest” as a factor in admission. And don’t forget to show up when a college rep from one of your colleges comes to visit your school and respond if they email you for information. When you sit down with a representative, remember to ask questions—the college rep you meet may be a member of the admission committee that reviews your application.
